In fact, that's my sensei -- Dr. Hsu. the Vice President of Republic of China Kendo Association, 7th Dan.

He was the National Coach for TW national representitives for 8th, 9th, 10th and 13th World Champs. All achieved the 3rd position (males team). :)

He is the first and ever to lead TW team to get so many times award in the World Champs, after a generation gap. Now you know where I came from :)
And what I am looking for :)

This movie is for the preparation of 8th World Champ.

He uses both languages -- Chinese/ Twainese :)

That year, I was preparing for my graduated school entrance exam :)

I had the benefit of receiving Hsu lao tse's instruction in Taiwan in 2006. He is a remarkable and observant teacher. You can see on the movie that his movements are very efficient.

I guess it is too much to ask for someone to translate the whole 15min video (?) :)

Aha! Now that I have found out how to post comments, here is what I wanted to say originally:

It is great to read everyone's thoughts here. It is clear the WKC has many highly motivated students. I can also see that people are really thinking about their kendo from the physical, mental and spiritual angles.

This indicates that the club has very good students and also very good teachers! (I knew this already, but it is nice to have confirmation :) ).

I really enjoy training at Rembuden but reading this blog made me want to at least visit my old club and see how everything is going. I need some money first, of course.... :)

I will see many of you in May for the National Champs in Auckland, Im sure.

PS: It was great to read everyone's reflections on last year's national camp. 2008's will be here in Wellington in August (exact date not yet confirmed), so I hope as many people as possible are able to come.

Kendo Dōjo basic etiquette & commands for beginner & kyu grades Thanks to Janet for organising this article. When entering & leaving the Dōjo （道場, training hall）, we need to bow respectfully from the waist, first towards the direction of Joseki （上席）, in our case this is the Waikato Kendo Club WKC banner. (But in Japanese dōjo there is often a Kamiza （上座） with a small Shinto shrine or altar displayed with religious significance). And then bow towards Sensei & Senpai on your way in before neatly organising your belongings on the side & getting ready quietly. Kobayashi Hideo Sensei – How to Seme (w/English CC) 小林英雄先生 - 攻め方 How do you practice S eme ? Very early on, I have heard of the “Three Opportunities to Strike”: strike when your opponent’s technique is about to start, strike when your opponent’s technique ends, and when the opponent is mentally and physically depleted. Since then, this line of thinking has given me a direction in how to train. In 2017, Utsunomiya sensei, 7-dan kyoshi, came to visit us and taught me the concept of “okori”.
